I get great satisfaction from blending wood and metal, which is why knives and handled tools are some of my favorite items to make. Please click on the picture for a larger, more detailed version.
1084 Blacksmiths knife
Blacksmith’s knife forged from a piece of 1/4x1x4 1084 high carbon steel.
Flatter forged from 1045 tool steel
3 wrench knives
These were made from two open-ended wrenches that had some family significance for a friend. They wanted a tool their grandfather used turned into blades. I cut them, forge welded-1084 to them and forged the blades. I wanted them to be properly heat-treated useful blades rather than ‘blade shaped objects.’
3 hand tools
